Mechanical and thermal properties (apparent density, thermal conductivity, compressive strength, tensile strength, etc.) are the key indicators that determine the application of EPS.
In recent years, with the continuous development of my country’s EPS industry, from the performance of raw materials to equipment upgrades to the improvement of production process control, conditions have been created for the improvement of EPS performance indicators under the premise of achieving the same density.
For example, the 18 kg density EPS (white board or graphite board) currently on the market has a compressive strength of 90kpa-100kpa, while the graphene EPS compressive strength can reach ≥140kpa, that is, it can achieve the same mechanical properties as the existing EPS at a lower density.
On the other hand, in the actual production process, the control of EPS sintering degree under the premise of the same density is also an important means to improve EPS performance indicators, that is, the better the sintering degree, the better the tensile strength and thermal conductivity.
Therefore, with the development of the EPS industry, the performance index classification method corresponding to the density in the original standard can no longer fully reflect the current EPS performance.
